Free Reddit monitoring tools for tracking brand mentions
Reddit is where buyers ask each other what to use, and where ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overviews go looking for an honest answer. You do not need a paid social listening contract to know what is being said about you there.
Start with the free Reddit brand audit for a baseline, then add alerting from the list below.
Five free tools, and what each is actually good at
1. Top10Reddit (free brand audit and score)
Enter a domain and get the subreddits that matter, the real threads with links and upvote counts, the competitors discussed alongside you and a 0-100 Reddit visibility score. No keyword setup, no account. Best for a baseline and for monthly tracking.
2. Reddit search, sorted by new
Free and instant. Search your brand name, product names and domain, sort by new, and save the URL. Weak on history and it will not tell you which communities matter, but it is the fastest way to see today's mentions.
3. F5Bot
Free keyword alerts by email for Reddit posts and comments. Excellent for catching a mention within the hour. You must know your keywords up front, and it does not measure reach or sentiment.
4. Google Alerts with site:reddit.com
Catches Reddit threads that rank in Google - which is exactly the set of threads AI assistants tend to cite. Slower than F5Bot, but it surfaces the durable conversations rather than every passing comment.
5. Subreddit RSS feeds
Every subreddit and every Reddit search has an .rss endpoint. Free, unlimited, and easy to pipe into Slack or a reader once you know which five communities matter to you.
A free stack that takes 20 minutes to set up
Run the audit on your own domain and on your two closest competitors. Note the five subreddits that come back most often. Put those five into an RSS reader. Add F5Bot alerts for your brand name, your domain and your two main product names. Finally, set a Google Alert for "your brand" site:reddit.com. That covers discovery, alerting and the threads that feed AI answers.
Re-run the audit on the first of each month and write down the score. A rising score with rising mention counts means your participation is working; a flat score means the threads you joined were not the ones your buyers read.
